Renew Rego TAS 2024 | Tasmania Registration Renewal

You will receive a renewal notice from your registered postal address within 4 to 6 weeks before the registration expiration date. You are allowed to renew the registration for 3, 6, or 12 months for heavy and light vehicles having a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 4.5 tons or more.

Light trailer registrations can be renewed only for 6 months or 12 months. You can find the payment number through the TAS Rego Check service, or it is also given on the renewal notice. An SMS reminder can also be set to alert you when the registration is due.

What you Need to Renew Rego TAS?

Before you renew, you need to collect some information.

Renewing Online

To renew Rego TAS online, you will need:

  • The payment number given at the bottom of your renewal notice
  • A Visa or MasterCard for payment
  • You will need the payment number and the Biller Code given at the bottom of your renewal notice if you pay via BPAY

Renewing by Phone

To renew Rego TAS by phone, you will need:

  • The payment number given at the bottom of your renewal notice
  • A Visa or MasterCard for payment
  • Renewing at a Service Center

If you want to renew at a service center, you need to:

  • Bring your renewal notice
  • Pay the registration renewal notice

If you do not have the renewal notice and you are the registered owner, then you should have:

  • Your current Tasmanian license, or
  • Documents for proof of identity

If you ask someone else to pay on your behalf, then you also need to give them your renewal notice.

Applying a Concession to Your Registration

You need to visit a service center to apply for a concession to your registration. You need to do the following:

  • Complete the application form given on their official website. The declaration and authorization section should be signed in front of the Service Tasmania customer service officer.
  • Provide proof of concession.
  • Provide proof of identity documents.
  • Provide your current Tasmanian license.

You also need to follow these steps if you are also applying for a motor tax rebate:

  • Complete an application form on their website. The statutory section should be signed in front of the Service Tasmania customer service officer.

Expired Registration

You cannot renew your registration if it expired more than 3 months ago. Your vehicle is required to be inspected at an approved Inspection Station. You can register at a service center with the following if your vehicle passes the inspection:

  • A completed AIS inspection report.
  • Your current Tasmanian license or other documents for proof of identity.
  • Documents to prove your eligibility for a concession.

Haven’t Received Renewal Notice?

You can still pay for your vehicle’s renewal and confirm its registration status if you cannot access a renewal notice for any reason. The TAS rego check online service will display your vehicle’s registration status and its expiration date. It will also display a green button if a renewal notice has been sent out for the vehicle that will link you to the payment options and numbers.

Receiving Renewals Online

You cannot receive the renewal notices online via mail. However, you will be given an online option using BPAY View if receiving a renewal is more convenient for you. The renewal notices will be sent directly to your online banking service by using BPAY View. You need an online banking service to use this service by following the given steps:

  • Log in to your online banking account
  • View the Bills section or look for the BPAY View
  • You need to register the biller code, your BPAY View registration number, your vehicle’s license number, and the period of registration you want.

Please note that once you have signed up for the BPAY View, you will not receive any paper renewal notices via post. Only the nominated operator can sign up to receive the renewal notice using this service if your vehicle is registered in joint names.
